4. Function Signature of `wait()`
What is the basic function signature of the `wait()` system call in C, and what does each parameter represent?

The function signature of wait system call is:-
pid_t wait(int *status)
Here the *status represents a pointer to an integer where the exit status of the child process will be stored. The return value of wait is the PID of the terminated child whereas on failure it returns -1 and errno is set to indicate the error.
