The following steps are taken to set up the new process image:-

Allocating New Memory Segments:

Text Segment: The kernel loads the new executable's code into the text segment, marking it as read-only and executable.
Data Segment: The initialized global and static variables are loaded into the data segment.
BSS Segment: The kernel allocates and zero-initialises memory for uninitialized global and static variables.
Heap : The heap is initialized for dynamic memory allocation.
Stack: A new stack is setup for the process.

Copying Arguments and Environment Variables:

The argument and environment variables are copied to the new stack.
The stack is set up with pointers to these arrays, and the stack pointer is updated accordingly.
