13. Measuring CPU Time for Processes

How can you monitor CPU time for one or more specific processes using the `top` command? Provide the syntax and explain how it works.

We can monitor this by using the command top -p pid where pid is the id of the process. For e.g. top -p 1 -2 gives the output as:-

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND

1 root 20 0 167004 12000 8416 S 0.0 0.1 0:07.87 systemd
2 root 20 0 0 0 0 S 0.0 0.0 0:00.03 kthreadd

Here pid is the id of the process, user is the user who is using the process, TIME+ is the time taken by the process and COMMAND is the cmd being run by the process.
