why do we use function pointer and what are it's benifits?

We use function pointer to increase the usability and quality of code.
At our stage its main use is function pointer array. We can access bunch of similar functions just by single line of code.
Example in MDC we used function pointer to call several different functions of compress(2-7) just by single line of code.

Also you can achieve a bit of polymorphism

->Function pointers are the pointers which points to a function.
->Function pointer makes program simple and short.
->Function pointer basically holds the address of a function.
->The address of a function is the name of that function.


Lets take an example.
We have a function by the name 'funct()'
and a function pointer by the name of '*fn'
we have to assign the address of the function to the function pointer
    fn = funct;
so that the address of the function is assigned to function pointer.
Now we can simply call this function using function pointer i.e.,
    (*fn)();
The second bracket is empty as we have not passed any arguments in function 'funct'


->By a simple function pointer call we can also call more than one function.To call more than one function with a single call we can use arrays of function pointer.


Let us see an example of array of function pointers.
   void (* file[])(void)=
   {
         new,
         open,
         save,
         save_as,
         print          };
  
   while calling we call function pointer i.e.,
  
   file[n](void);

    In this n is the choice which should be entered from the user.
