How to configure FTP server in easy steps

Hii All,

i am explaining you how you can configure FTP server in your own machine in easy way

1. install vsftp package
yum install vsftpd

2.check service status
systemctl status vsftpd.service

3.start vsftpd
systemctl start vsftpd.service

4.check now(your system is server)
ftp 127.0.0.1

5.login as a root and make a shared directory
cd /var/ftp
mkdir movies

6.bind the orignal directory to shared directory
mount --bind /home/himanshu/Movies/ /var/ftp/SharedMovies/ [Enter]

7.create a directory for other operations in anywhere
mkdir Upload

8.change ownership
chown ftp:ftp Upload
chmod 777 Upload

9.if you create Upload other than /var/ftp then yu need to bind
mkdir /var/ftp/Uploads
mount --bind /home/himanshu/Upload/ /var/ftp/Uploads

Configuration in .conf file
vim /etc/vsftpd/vsftpd.conf

anonymous_enable=YES
write_enable=YES
write_enable=YES
anon_upload_enable=YES
anon_mkdir_write_enable=YES
anon_other_write_enable=YES
dirmessage_enable=YES
dirlist_enable=YES
no_anon_password=YES
file_open_mode=0777
guest_enable=YES
chroot_local_user=yes
list_enable=yes
pam_service_name=vsftpd
userlist_enable=yes

save and restart the vsftpd

11.systemctl start vsftpd.service

your FTP server is ready you can connect with ftp and ip address of server
