For security reasons, some of the hosts on the internet disable responses to ICMP echo request packets, so we can connect to a website on such hosts but won't receive any ping response.
Some internet hosts disable responses to ping requests (ICMP echo requests) for security reasons. This enhances protection against certain types of attacks like Ping Flood attacks. While this doesn't impact regular web access, it does affect ping as a connectivity test, as the host won't reply to standard ping requests. As Ping relies on receiving ICMP echo replies to assess network connectivity hence, it would limit its effectiveness in assessing network connectivity.
